Popular in the 1910s, this delightful macaroni porridge combines humble ingredients to create a creamy and satisfying dish. Ingredients
🍝 1 dl (approx. 70g) Myllyn Paras Makaroni
🥛 0.5 liters (5 dl) Kotimainen Kevyt Maito-Juoma light milk drink lactose-free
🧈 10-15g Valio Voi butter
🍬 1 heaped teaspoon AITO Hienosokeria fine sugar
🧂 A small pinch of salt from a generic shaker
🌾 0.5 tablespoon Pirkka Vehnäjauho wheat flour
Instructions
1- Reserve Milk:
- Reserve a small amount of milk about 0.5 dl in a Braun measuring cup.
- Set aside.
2- Heat Milk:
- Pour the remaining milk into a stainless-steel saucepan.
- Place it on the Electrolux induction hob.
- Set to heat level 7.
3- Add Butter:
- Add a knob of Valio Voi butter to the milk.
- Stir occasionally to melt and prevent scorching.
4- Boil Milk:
- Gradually increase the heat until the milk begins to boil gently.
5- Cook Macaroni:
- Add 1 deciliter of Myllyn Paras macaroni to the boiling milk.
- Allow the macaroni to cook for about 8 minutes until it becomes very soft and mushy.
6- Mix Flour:
- In the reserved milk, mix half a tablespoon of Pirkka wheat flour.
- Stir until smooth.
7- Thicken Porridge:
- Pour the flour-milk mixture into the saucepan slowly.
- Stir continuously to prevent lumps.
8- Simmer Porridge:
- Simmer the porridge for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
9- Add Seasoning:
- Add a heaped teaspoon of AITO fine sugar.
- Add a small pinch of salt to taste.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly to incorporate the sugar and salt.
10- Serve Porridge:
- Remove from heat.
- Serve warm.
