Ingredients
For the Dough:
πΎ 500 g white flour
π§ 1 sachet dry yeast
π§ 1/4 tsp salt
πΏ 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
π 300 ml milky water
π§ 100 g cubed butter
For the Filling:
π§ 100 g soft butter
π¬ 50 g caster sugar
πΏ 1 tsp ground cardamom
For the Glaze Syrup:
π 75 ml water
π¬ 50 g caster sugar
For the Topping:
πΏ 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
π¬ 1 tbsp caster sugar
Instructions
1- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, salt, and cardamom. Mix well using a wooden spoon.
- Add the milky water and cubed butter to the flour mixture. Knead by hand until you achieve a smooth dough.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 2 hours until it doubles in size.
2- Prepare the Filling:
- Mix the soft butter, caster sugar, and cardamom in a small bowl until a smooth paste is formed.
3- Shape the Buns:
- Once risen, place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it into a rectangle (40 x 50 cm).
- Spread the cardamom filling over half of the dough. Fold the other half over it and gently press to seal.
4- Cut and Twist:
- Cut the folded dough into strips, each about 2 cm wide, using a pizza cutter.
- Twist each strip and tie it into a knot, placing each on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
5- Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 180Β°C.
- Bake the buns for 30 minutes in the lower half of the oven, until golden brown.
6- Prepare the Glaze:
- While baking, simmer water and sugar in a saucepan to create the glaze syrup.
7- Glaze and Top:
- Once baked and slightly cooled, brush the buns generously with the syrup.
- Sprinkle with the cardamom-sugar mixture.
