Ingredients

For the Dough:

Instructions

1- Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, salt, and cardamom. Mix well using a wooden spoon.
  • Add the milky water and cubed butter to the flour mixture. Knead by hand until you achieve a smooth dough.
  • Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 2 hours until it doubles in size.

2- Prepare the Filling:

  • Mix the soft butter, caster sugar, and cardamom in a small bowl until a smooth paste is formed.

3- Shape the Buns:

  • Once risen, place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it into a rectangle (40 x 50 cm).
  • Spread the cardamom filling over half of the dough. Fold the other half over it and gently press to seal.

4- Cut and Twist:

  • Cut the folded dough into strips, each about 2 cm wide, using a pizza cutter.
  • Twist each strip and tie it into a knot, placing each on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

5- Bake:

  • Preheat your oven to 180Β°C.
  • Bake the buns for 30 minutes in the lower half of the oven, until golden brown.

6- Prepare the Glaze:

  • While baking, simmer water and sugar in a saucepan to create the glaze syrup.

7- Glaze and Top:

  • Once baked and slightly cooled, brush the buns generously with the syrup.
  • Sprinkle with the cardamom-sugar mixture.
